Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Tasty Tomato Festival?

The 2016 Palmetto Tasty Tomato Festival will be held Saturday, July 16th at City Roots Urban Farm in Columbia, SC. The festival celebrates the champion of the garden, the heirloom tomato and locally grown food. The goal is to encourage consumption of healthy, local food and to enhance the image of Columbia’s food scene. A vibrant local food scene establishes Columbia as a great culinary destination and a great place to live, work and play.

We offer family-friendly activities that Includes live music, an heirloom tomato taste test, tomato bobbing and more. Pre-event activities include a homegrown tomato contest and photo contest.

Where and when?

The Tasty Tomato Festival is on Saturday, July 16th, 2016 from 4 to 9 PM. It will be held in City Roots Urban Farm, 1005 Airport Boulevard, Columbia, SC 29205.

Who’s going to be there?

Approximately 3000 attendees are expected. Demographics provided upon request.

We will ask attendees for a $12 entrance fee for advance tickets and $15 at the gates.

How do I become a vendor?

If you are an amazing locally sourced restaurant or artisan and would like to become a vendor, complete the application above and you will be considered by our committee. Final notification will be on June 6th

Every food vendor MUST have at least one local dish on their menu. We encourage food vendors to work on a tomato signature idea. Last year we had around 3000 attendees, be sure to stock in order to avoid quickly sold out items.

Artisan vendors are encouraged to feature agricultural themes and/or sustainable practices or material use.

We also ask to vendors to promote their participation in the Tasty Tomato Festival on their website, newsletter and social media tools.

What is provided?

Each vendor is provided a space to accommodate a 10′x10’ tent (white preferred!). Vendors are responsible for their own license from the city. You should bring your own tent and materials (table, chairs…). If you would like to rent a table, please let us know! No water/snacks will be provided, think about yours or purchase from other vendors at the festival.
